HAPPILY HOMED

Just thought we would drop you a line to tell you how Trotter McGee is getting on.His new name is Troy, Trotters was a bit of a mouthful. He has settled in really well and we love him to bits.He is a real character and is so full of mischief, although not in a bad way.As you can see from the pic he loves to take a nap.....in the strangest positions. He Loves his toys
especially his teddy which he squeaks to his great pleasure or to make a point!
Thanks again for all your help and advice.

Just a quick update now Simon has been with us just over three weeks. He really is a smashing lad and has settled into rural domesticity remarkably well. Our other two dogs, Tigger (about six years old lurcher rescue) and Barley (very active 16 month border collie) have taken to Simon really well and the three happily walk together! Barley, however, cannot understand why Simon does not play but recently cracks have appeared in his armour and has relaxed enough to enjoy some of Barley's antics.
Last Sunday, on a deserted Winterton beach, we let Simon have a few minutes off the lead!  He was really very nervous and only went a few paces away.  He
did let us take a photo however with the other dogs and our daughter. Simon is on the left in the blue coat, looking very smart.

After losing our gorgeous greyhound Buster it was really hard to come to terms with it, But we have been lucky enough to adopt Jester (Iffy) four weeks ago he has been brilliant the first day we got him. He has brought us great comfort and happiness into our lives. Jester is very comical when it comes to squeaky teddies and his walks. He gets on well with other dogs and has made some friends. We love Jester to bits and we always buying him new squeaky and cuddly teddies he has a collection of them and when ever he's sees one he want it even if its not his. He always gets cuddles and kisses from everyone. whenever we come into the door, he always jumps on to our shoulders, and always greets everyone who comes into the door.
We would just like to say to Clarks Farm, thank you for everything you have done for us.

We have now had 'George', Nicoles Prince, nearly 8weeks and it's almost as if he's always been here!  He settled in really well and has come accustomed to his comforts - including our new sofa!!
He is a hoarder! George has taken to stealing any soft toy he likes the look of, or socks or gloves dropped
even for a second, and takes them to bed! He even stole my trainer as I took it off and took that to bed with him!  Many a soft toy has been lovingly sucked by George!
He loves sleeping upside down with his back legs spread apart and his teeth showing!  And since he had 8 teeth taken out his tongue hangs out one side!  It 's a hilarious sight but it's also very heart-warming as he obviously feels very comfortable and relaxed with us.

Bob (on the left) was happily homed in November 2007. He now lives with Midge and Honey (pictured) and is pictured here out on a walk with their friend Monty who was also from Clarks Farm. He is 8 years old and before he could come home with us he had to have all of his teeth removed due to neglect but he is now the happiest dog – and pain free! What a transformation! He loves to sit on your lap (he finds a way!) and loves cuddles and fuss. He loves running round the garden and because he is so tall he finds it easy to nick food of the table so we have to be careful. He is coping very well without his teeth now that his gums are healed – he is fantastic, just a big bundle of love – thank you so much Clarks Farm for all your hard work that is devoted to these amazing lovely dogs.

It's just over a week now since we collected Judy from CF so I thought you might like a brief update on
how we've been getting on...
It would be difficult to imagine how things could have gone any better.  Judy has got on really well with
Eliot but the most amazing thing is that she hasn't had a single "accident" in the house despite the fact
that she has never been house-trained.
We gave her a bath on the second day because it was so warm and sunny.  She seemed to really enjoy
all the attention of shampooing, drying off and brushing her coat, which now shines in the sun.
She seems to enjoy watching the TV and is intrigued by the hall mirror which used to get her quite
excited trying to find out where the "other dog" was hiding. Thank you for matching us up with Judy.

Hiya,

Just want to let you know that UNA has settled in well.  She is a really lovely dog, and a right character.she loves being fussed, and soon lets me know if I stop tickling her neck too soon...thanx a lot for cheering me up again since I lost my last dog to illness.

Just a quick note to up date you about Douglas Knows.  We took him home on 28th April 2007, he settled in really quickly and amazingly got on with Tilly (my mum's dog) straight away! He did not need to be toilet trained and loves his twice daily walks. He puts up with a lot of noise from the three boys and has got used to the many different lounge floors of our relatives and friends.

Just a short email to let you know how Bridget, (now called Bree) is doing.

We adopted her in July 07 and brought her home where she was very nervous but seemed to know that this was forever! Over the last few months she constantly surprises us as she comes more and more out of her shell, and every now and again we will find one of the kid’s soft toys in her bed having a cuddle! She is sooo laid back and really great with the children, she loves to go for walks by the river and sometimes even goes for a swim!

All our friends love Bree and all now want to get a greyhound, so of course we direct them to Clarks Farm, keep up the good work, will stay in touch!

All the best

(Dumbledore on right in photo)

Just wanted you to know that Lucy has settled in brilliantly.  She is such a good girl, loves her comfy bed in front of the fire  and loves her walks even more!!  She runs around in the fields and woods by our house and is enjoying meeting all the other dogs and chasing the squirrels.  She met lots of friends and family over New Year and everyone has fallen in love with her.  She is perfect, thank you very much!!!

Thank you for letting us adopt Lark. Although he has only been with us for 4 - 5 days, he has already settled in very well and is extremely well behaved - no accidents in the house and no problems sleeping at night, and he certainly loves his food.  The write up about him on your website was very true as he can't go anywhere in the house without stopping at each person he sees, for lots of fuss and cuddles.  Despite our thinking very carefully about where we should put his bed, he completely disagreed with us and refused to sleep in it unless it was in our conservatory, so that's where it is now and he's very happy to laze around for hours on it.

Enclosed are some more pictures of Shaz at our easter weekend away with the caravan. Shaz usually lays in the back of the car, but when told to sit down, sat down on the wheel arch and seems to continue to enjoy doing it.

you'll remember that my Mother took Billy No Mates home just over 3 weeks ago. Since then, he's settled really well into his new home and has very quickly got his paws under the table. He's proving to be an absolutely delightful dog and has become quite a 'star' locally due to his wonderful temperament. Mum enjoys walking him down to the local field, and he has a ready string of ancillary walkers amongst the wider family who ensure that he is never without fuss and attention. He has adapted very well to life in a house and although there have been a few 'accidents' these are definitely decreasing as he becomes more confident. He is a very easy dog to have around and has made good friends with our small pack, who live just around the corner - definitely not 'no mates' any more.

Please find attached, a picture of our two boys catching some rays in our front room! Couch potatoes are right!! They blend in with the carpet don't they!

They're so gorgeous - but VERY mischievous!! We call Ranger, Tinker and Glory, Monster!! Along with gorgeous, beautiful, handsome.....to name a few!

I just thought we would let you know that Meg (Savanna Mystic) who we took home on 5-11-06 has completely settled in.

She is a real scavenger that loves bread, she gets on really well with our other dog they love their walks together, she loves cuddles and in the day she's like a shadow. She loves having mini races round the garden with our other dog and shes the perfect match thank you for giving us such a perfect little princess

Thank You Clarks Farm you do a brilliant job

We visited Clarks Farm on June 2nd this year with our greyhound Harry, who we also got through the RGT.  We'd ummed and ahhhed for ages about whether or not to get another greyhound.  We've had Harry for 6 years and for a brief spell (8 months) had a lovely greyhound called Sally, who sadly died at the age of 3 in the summer of 2004.  We eventually decided that we did want another dog so visited Clarks Farm.
When we arrived we met Catherine, who we had met previously when doing some voluntary work at another kennel.
We discussed at length what we were looking

Hazel(left) and Harry (right)

for which was a quiet boy to live gently alongside Harry, who is now 10.  We took several out for a walk with Harry and then at Catherine's suggestion went to the village pub for a bit of lunch and a really good think about which dog we would like.  Having mutually decided we both wanted a boy, my husband suddenly announced that really he wanted another bitch, like Sally!  We then returned to Clarks Farm and Catherine and said it was all change, we wanted a girl not a boy!
I stressed that if we were having a girl we wanted a quiet, shy one as I did not want Harry being pushed around too much.  When we had Sally, she was really bossy and dominant with him and as he moves gracefully into old age I want him to carry on enjoying the peace he is now used to.  So Catherine bought out Hazel to us.  We took her for a walk with Harry and decided she was the one for us.  She was so timid and shy and sweet.
We got home with her after a 2-hour journey and she was very good.  For the first few days she was really shy and used to back away from us initially but she gradually came round.  The most amazing thing about her was that she has never ever had a pee or anything else in the house - she was just instinctively house trained from day ONE.  This was obviously unexpected and a really lovely surprise - we at least expected a couple of accidents!  Five months on, she has developed into the most wonderful and loveable dog you could ask for.  She's not shy with us at all now, loves playing, loves the sofa, loves her walks, loves her food and just loves life.  She's still a little bit shy when visitors come to the house but it doesn't last for long now and is a really endearing quality anyway.
With Harry it took me a little while to really fall in love with him and with Sally it was the same but with Hazel we just both fell in love with her from the very beginning and she gives us so much pleasure.  We are so thankful that we came to Clarks Farm and ended up with her in our lives.  I now work from home almost all the time so they are rarely on their own and we live in a very rural area so they have great walks and I think they both enjoy their lives as much as we do.

Kind regards
Amanda & Ron Frost

Dear All,

Just a note to let you know how the pack are settling down.

Well very well actually, although life can be hard, fitting in the walks, the snacks, the dinners, the breakfasts, and all the cuddles. Then there's the playing, and toy chewing, the testing of the various dog beds, etc., etc.

Gwen has settled in very well, and is very insistent about her walks, making sure everyone knows when they're due.Dinner is another thing she doesn't like to be served late.

Bea Bea continues to be a little Madam, generally into everything, and usually involved in any naughtiness thats going around. Findlay has taken the longest to find his confidence, but has turned into a great big soppy dollop, as the picture on the online dog show shows. Actually they?re all accomplished lap dogs, Bea can launch herself from the fireside rug onto our laps in one leap. (One does have to brace oneself.) Gwen prefers to curl up on our knees in a great big blue ball, rather then lie full length. They're like folding card tables these greyhounds, it always amazes me how they manage to squeeze themselves into the smallest beds, and look perfectly happy about it too.

Pippin our youngest Basset, and certainly the naughtiest is a great favourite, Bea and Fin especially like to play rough house with him. It?s not unusual to find two greyhounds chewing him around the neck, and he loves it! He also usually makes a point of sharing their beds with them, whether they want him to or not! I'm sure that Fin and he have a crush on each other, consequently they're known as the Gay-boys.

The amazing thing is, that even though we now have six dogs, the house never feels crowded, except for walks, and dinner they spend most of their day kipping quietly. Wandering in every now and again to check on what I?m doing, and cadge a sneaky cuddle in the process.

Gwen hasn't needed any stair training whatsoever, she mastered it first time, Bea and Fin have finally mastered them, and fly up and down them at the speed of light, especially if a plastic bag gets rustled in the kitchen

If ever you want them back, you can take a run and jump, they're staying here. They are the softest, cuddliest, soppiest, most loveable animals and they are staying right here, so there ner.

She is a terrible scavenger.  As you can see from the photos attached she loves to beg for food.  She has also managed to unzip bags and open kitchen drawers to get food when we are not looking! Just to let you know that Bedtime Beauty now Cassie is doing really well.  She has really fitted in well and it didn?t take long for her to realise that this was her new home.  She enjoys playing catch with her new toys and has a few ?mad moments? when we come in from work as she is so pleased to see us.

We love having her and wouldn't be without her.

Lena and Chris

We thought you might like an update about Merlin and how well he's getting on. He has settled in even better than we could have imagined, the kids love him and he loves them and he's always chasing them up and down the garden. He went to dog training school but didn't learn much except how to eat little bits of sausage very quickly!! He has developed a very loving character and gets very excited when we get home, even if he's only been left a short while. he runs round in circles, barking and jumping up and loves to play with toys (especially toys he sneaks off the kids when they're not looking!)
He comes with us every Sunday when we go horse riding and we often take him on 3 to 4 mile country walks where he loves to explore the hedgerows and woods. He always takes to his bed for the next day after though.
He still doesn't like our cats and the feeling is mutual, but they seem to have come to an arrangement where they stay upstairs and he doesn't try to jump the gate to go up there anymore.
He is such a lovely dog and we all love him very much. thanks again for bringing us together.
hopefully we are moving to a house with more space soon and we would then consider getting another one from you to keep him company.

(Ollie on the left, Martha on the right)

When we first met Martha we were told that she was "Mad as a Hatter" and would be a bit of a handful!  Not being put off by that, I fell head over heals much to my wife's dismay. However, we are both happy to report that Martha has settled in well and has not lived up to her reputation at all. In fact she has been calm and a joy to have around. The relationship between her and Ollie is developing nicely, Ollie felt the need to try and dominate Martha during the early days, but now, 2 months down the line they are very much a team and enjoy tearing around the garden or going for a run together on the fenced common land near to us.

We as a family are now completely "Greyhound Mad" and spend our time trying to convert others. Keep up your good work at Clarks Farm.

I thought you might like to put this on your notice board.  We have only had Zara (PinkyBlue) for one month and she is still very "keen".  I don't know whether she will ever lose that but she is defintely becoming very soft and loves people.
Josh seems very pleased with his new friend and despite our reservations he is still definitely the boss, as can be seen in the photo.

Josh is such a well behaved dog that this has rubbed off onto the unruly Zara and we have been able to let her off the lead (muzzled) for a run together.  They make a lovely couple and apart from Zara's preoccupation with our cats (and anything small and furry which runs fast), she is a perfect mate for our Josh.

Blue has settled in extremely well and is socialising well with other dogs. He had a run on the beach with a friend's greyhound and whippet at the weekend and seemed very pleased with himself.

We have renamed him Merlin because we liked the name and had thought at one stage that we would be rehoming a Merlin. He answers well to it and it goes with "Misty" and Meadows!

I attach a few pictures. As you can see, he is extremely nosy and likes nothing more than to look out of the window. I have also attached a couple of him in the garden - as you can see, he and Misty look rather good together.

This is our baby HARLEY who we took off you in April  05, hes as daft as a brush and much loved by my 4 children esp my 5 year old son Haydn who says Harley is his best friend and they are often found sprawled on the floor together!! Im sure you'll agree he's a handsome dog and nothing he likes better than a trip round our local market..cos hes gets fuss of just about everyone !!!
please add this to your success stories page my kids  look at it all the time and are desp to see Harley on it !!

As promised here are some photos of our gorgeous boy Dillon.
He is a delight - funny, naughty, inquisitive, boisterous, and affectionate who in three weeks has made himself, as you will see, well and truly at home.
It's as if he's been here forever.

This is Jimmy, 4 year old brindle/white who was homed with Dave and Amanda in July 2005.

Jimmy has settled into his new home very well and is spoiled rotten, it's a good job that Jimmy still can't manage the stairs or we'll have 3 in our bed every night!!

We really couldn't wish for a better dog, it feels as if Jimmy has been with us for ever. We haven't had any problems with him, he really is a joy to have.

At first it was as if he wasn't really with us, he was so quiet but now he has found his feet, he even jumps up at us when it's time for walks, you can imagine Jimmy is rather too big to jump up and many a time he has nearly knocked us over, it's very funny as he's all legs and very clumsy.

We all love having Jimmy here with us so thank you Clarks Farm, keep up the great work that you do.

This is Marion with, from left to right, Kim, Dillon & Charna.

Kim and Dillon are both Clarks Farm dogs and have settled in brilliantly.

Just to let you know that New Addition to the Marsh family "Robbie"has settled in very well in his new home and Emma has accepted him as though he has been here all his life. This is Robbie,Emma and their friend "Nyke" with John and Debbie at Burstall dog show.Robbie happily posed inthe ring and won his first rosette proving how quickly greyhounds settle into their new lives. Thanks to Steve and all at the kennels for making our family complete again. Wendy and John xx

'Proof if proof were needed that greyhounds are indeed addictive. When we first pitched up at Clarks Farm we were the proud owners of two greys and now, two months later, we somehow seem to have acquired four! Miffy (formerly Bo) and Monty (formerly Barron) have settled in extremely well and been made very welcome (bar the odd growl) by residents Arthur and Susie. We will stop collecting now as there's no more room in the car!'

Photo: from front to back, Miffy, Susie, Arthur and Monty

You did not tell me I was adopting a contortionist as I cant believe the positions she can get into
Missy is doing very well but she hates wheels of all types and sticks
missy loves her walks and she now jumps up as soon as we get her lead and muzzle out

Just to update on Bertie who came to us this Good Friday, he is well and truly settled and lives in perfect harmony with little Tilly. He is such an appealing and amusing boy, quite a clown.

He really enjoys his walks at the beach and the heathland, and likes a paddle too, he loves to creep upstairs to steal cuddly toys to take outside and his favourite game is pinching bread in any form!!

We love having this clumsy great hound around, so thank you Clarks Farm.

Sorry but I had to send you this photo of Mr. Wobble - how much more laid back can one get! This is becoming his customary pose after meals and long walks.

We bumped in to a couple on Wivenhoe Quay this evening who had a (female) dead ringer for Mr. Wobble who was adopted from your Trust about a year ago after 2 unsuccessful attempts. Named Beauty with twin ear tattoo ULLUU I've tried to track down any racing history this evening on their behalf but no success; I've got virtually all Mr. Wobbles results from the "cached" info on Google.

Best regards

Jonathan & Jan

This is Cleo who moved in with John, Cherry and family at the end of July 04.
John says 'Thought you might like few snaps of our new baby. She has settled in remarkably well and has no problems with the laminate floor (except when she wants to go somewhere quickly!!). She is fully house-trained and loves a good run at the dog-park up the road. In fact she walks around like she owns the place - Cherry calls her the Queen of Sheba!! Sorry I haven't gone any pictures of her looking active but that appears to be rather a rare event!!'

This is KC and Daphne having a cuddle after they had caused havoc jumping on and off the bed. They are happily homed with Paul & Linda.

This is Kai proving how laid back he is on his first day in his new home. He's settling in ok even though he's afraid of the cat!

John is a brindle dog who was homed in April 2004 with a lovely couple who spoil him rotten. As you can see he has settled in very well and has a wonderful selection of toys!

Roly is a fawn dog who was rehomed with a family who at one stage didn't think they could keep him because of work commitments. They worked hard to find a way they could work and spend time with Roly!
It worked so well that they also decided to give Roly's kennel mate Jenny a home. So now Jenny lives with us too.
Jenny is around 3 years old and shared a kennel with Roly at Clarks Farm. Some time ago she broke her hock and the bone has not set straight. This made most people worried about having me. Luckily for her the people who have Roly decided that it didn't matter and they wanted her too....So, now Roly and Jenny live together. As you can see, they get on really well, and their new family call them 'the bookends'.
